Wood’s on the way

WisPolitics reports that state Representative Jeff Wood has been released from the Chippewa County Jail, in order to participate in an extraordinary session on state employee contracts. This comes as rumors circulate around the Capitol that Assembly Democrats don’t have the votes need to approve the contracts. Democrats, who stood with Wood when he faced expulsion from the Assembly last April, presumably have confirmed that the independent and former Republican will vote with them to get the deals done.

Meanwhile Governor-elect Scott Walker has told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that approving the contracts – which include no pay increases and require state employees to contribute more to benefits – could have dire consequences.
