State Agriculture Secretary Ben Brancel delivered some unscripted comments during a Farm Bureau event at Monona Terrace in Madison on Wednesday, and used an unfortunate metaphor for the recent tumult at the Capitol. Freshman legislators, said Brancel, “got stuck in the middle of a Holocaust and a horror show.” Oops. Brancel later told reporters “I better go back to English school.”
Brancel issued the following statement Wednesday afternoon:
“I apologize today for my unfortunate choice of words about the budget controversy. I meant to portray the sense of turmoil in the past weeks, but I chose an inappropriate word in the context.”
