Gas pains: state sets new price record

Wisconsin’s average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline reached a new all-time high of $4.115 today, surpassing the previous high-water mark of $4.111 set on July 17, 2008, according to AAA’s Daily Fuel Gauge Report. Wisconsin’s average moved above the $4 mark on Saturday, and the state is one of 14 states and the District of Columbia now paying more than $4 for a gallon of gas.

Today’s statewide average is up 13 cents from last week, 40 cents higher than a month ago and $1.16 more than last year. Wisconsin’s average is also 13 cents higher than the national average.
