It’s the business magazine’s list of Small Best Places for Businesses and Careers, and while none of the state’s small cities make the top ten, the list does include the Wisconsin cities with the highest and second highest rates of unemployment in the state: Janesville (9.2%, ranked #124) and Racine (8.9%, ranked #81).
Rounding out the Wisconsin picks are Eau Claire (#38), La Crosse (#39), Appleton (#40), Oshkosh (#71), Sheboygan (#100), Fond du Lac (#107) and Wausau (#135).
And in that all important comparison with neighboring states, Minnesota had just 3 cities on the list, Iowa had 5, Illinois had 6 and Michigan had 7.
