Senate Democrats and Republicans have just two bills on their Special Session agenda today – both ostensibly aimed at creating jobs.
Democrats jumped all over SB 14, which has already passed on a 17-16 partisan vote. The bill limits interest rates on lawsuit judgments to prime rate plus 1%. It’s not a jobs bill, charged Madison Democrat Fred Risser.
Debate on the second bill, SB 22 (relating to the duty and care owed to trespassers) has gone down a number of tangents but has basically seen Democrats insisting that this bill also does nothing to create jobs while Republicans have countered that it will help to improve the state’s business climate.
