Walker calls for mine action

With the state Assembly scheduled to vote Thursday on mining legislation, Goveronor Scott Walker called for a decision in favor of an iron mine in northern Wisconsin.

We can pass legislation that will streamline the project for safe and environmentally sound mining. The proposed project in northwestern Wisconsin could provide as many as, at least 700 jobs at the mine, and thousands across the state. Now I mentioned idea several times during the campaign, and we’ve all debated this for months. Now it is time for us to move forward on a project that is not only about jobs, but about the history of our Badger State.
