Holy cheeseheads, Batman. I received a phone call this afternoon from a media rep for Oshkosh Defense, letting me know that two of the firm’s fine Wisconsin-built vehicles are featured in the new Batman movie, and will be parked outside the Oshkosh theatre where the film opens tonight.
My first thought, naturally, was . . . “wait, there’s a new Batman movie?” (I’ve totally got my finger on the pulse of pop culture. Ask anybody.) I vaguely recall seeing a Batman movie starring Michael Keaton, a number of years ago. (He was in Johnny Dangerously, too, right?) Beyond that, I got nothin’.
Anyway, it’s true: there is a new Batman movie, and “The Dark Knight Rises” features the Oshkosh Oshkosh Tactical Protector Vehicles (TPVs) and a Logistical Vehicle System Replacement (LVSR) truck in some “pivotal action scenes.” Straight from the military-industrial complex to the multi-plex, one could say.
So, if you’re in the vicinity of the Oshkosh Marcus Theatre tonight you’re going to want to stop by and check out the trucks. I’m sure they’re just as cool as the Batmobile.
