Midwest Family Broadcast Group’s seemingly abrupt decision to terminate news and talk programing on 1670 WTDY means that WRN affiliate WIBA is pretty much the sole remaining commercial news/talk station in the Madison market, at least on the AM dial.
WTDY is now playing Christmas music, and the station website has been replaced by a generic holiday greeting. WTDY was best know to Madison listeners as the home of the always irascible John “Sly” Sylvester.
“WTDY is no longer a news/talk format. That’s all I know,” Tweeted WTDY News Director and “Everything at Five” host Amy Barrilleaux.
